Defining oneself (or one's state) not on its own terms, but with its relationship to another more popular (or populous), bespeaks of an inferiority complex.

She's a major cheesehead. Wisconsin people call Illinois people FIB's too.

Maine people call Mass people Massholes and Mass people call Maine people Maniacs and Maintards.

They warned us there'd be commie Red Shirt enforcers on every street corner if Obama got elected.

Must be some kind of cryptic, Chicago political machine code:

"Illinois Is Blow Us"

I presume she means "below" in the geographic sense of "south of," as otherwise her sentiment makes no sense.

We don't do that stuff in California. And people from your states that hate that stuff, move here, undergirding our freedom from inflamed provincialism.

Can you you send some bookkeepers, please?

I lived in Madison for a summer 10 years ago (it was bliss - ahhh beers on The Terrace) and one of the first things I learned was to curse out FIBs while driving. Of course it's all a joke in a way, but I found it fun and it made me feel like Mad City insider immediately.
