Now that's a Theocracy!

Was going to type: "If only we could find a way to implement such effective social control and religious uniformity in this great land." - but then remembered the readership here and thought better of trying sarcasm.

Actually, rather than 'theocratic' action, it the action of a society that sees things which disturb the society as criminal behavior. By flauting his 'prowess' (I'm betting on a 90%+ exaggeration rate), he offended social values.

It is, however, a minor crime even though at least one Saudi cleric is calling for his execution. If charged and found guilty--he's alleging he was duped by the Lebanese TV network which edited his segment--his punishment could range from fines to jail to flogging, at the discretion of the judge.

@John Burgess

Isn't the whole point of a theocracy that the social, legal, and religious aspects of life are inseparable?

@ Triangle Man: It depends on whether the actions are motivated by religion or by social drives that are confused with religion. It might not make a lot of difference in the end, but one is more intractable than the other.

Hypocritical Saudis and stupid Saudi playboy. Well better for him to cry now and perhaps they won't lash the skin off his back.

Trouble is he will probably confess to which women he fooled around with and whether he really did or not they will end up drowned in a pool in their parents' back yard.

And which is more intractable?
