"She's really not stepping down. She's stepping up to do something bigger and better."

Sarah Palin stepped down up today.

"Movin' on up."

Seems to me I remember a sitcom with that theme song.

Penny said...

I'd say that Sarah is "movin' on up".

Have you noticed that when you read a quote of what she said, you already read it in Sarah's voice?

Here, let me show you what I mean.

From the NYT's article...

"She also took aim at the media, saying her replacement, Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, ''has a very nice family too, so leave his kids alone!''

And she told the media: ''How about, in honor of the American soldier, you quit makin' things up?''"

Rose said...

It's sobering to realize how different things would be if she only had a D on her voter registration instead of an R.

And how far we have fallen.

Go Sarah. We're with you all the way.

John Stodder said...

Bigger and better? Like President of the World Bank?

Senator of Alaska isn't bigger or better than governor, nor is talk show host. So, I guess that means she's running for president. This was the lamest clue ever!

traditionalguy said...

Sarah is starting the ethics-charges free use of her own time speaking at the Ronald Reagan library. I guess she plans to become a Librarian, or something. Now what could it possibly be?

kentuckyliz said...

Sexy librarian!

Heck I'm str8 and I'd do her.

Alex said...

#1 she has to sign that book deal and pay off her legal fees

#2 she has to "bone up" on the issues

#3 she needs debate coaching and how to be bullet-proof with the Couric/Gibson types

#4 she has to be like a duck

I await the mouth frothing the kinetic hatred scribbling and the derision plastered on with trowels.

And liberals incapable of not talking about Palin.

What can I say. I'm easily amused.

Fred4Pres said...

I like Sarah. I wish her well. But I just can't see her winning the GOP nomination this time around. I can see her definitely making a difference in GOP politics this time around.

Chip Ahoy said...

Alex, you left off elocution tutoring, hair/makeup update, contact lenses.

She really must lose the Fargo accent.

Other than these and the points you brought up ...

¡¿ What ?!

Fred4Pres said...

The AP gives Sarah a parting gift. Given the state of professional photography, how could this be anything but intentional.

If Sarah's future is over, why are biased journalists so afraid of her?

Could someone PLEASE go to Nancy Pelosi and shove a FREAKING clue down her throat??? Does she know what happened to the last "stimulus" package???

Ha ha ha. Apologies. No offense intended, but honestly, eight years of Bush's lazy-ass 'tuh' for 'to' substitution, and 'nuclur' for 'nuclear', and 'schtradaje' for 'strategy' and now with Obama's whistling Sibilant consonants, well, I just don't think my poor sensitive ears can take another term of idiosyncratic speech.

Chip, dude. You're totally harshing my mellow.

Ya, yah just remember that she isn't a lame duck anymore or a dead fish floating downstream ..uhh..she's now like a migrating caribou, ya betcha!!

And remember that criticizing her is like criticising troops fightin' for this country and anyone who says , like different, yah know...is some smartypants Elitist!!

I think the Cult of Palin will be just as welcomed and just as beneficial for Republicans and that Cult of self-promoting Jesse Jackson was for Democrats and their fortunes, 1980-1994.

She might be productive if she just shuts her mouth and talks about things she has decent knowledge of, like energy, home and small town economics. But I don't think it is in her nature to wait or take time to work on her knowledge deficiencies when she can read a TelePrompter almost as good as Obama in from of cheering, slogan-thirsty fans...

No to all of the above.

Sarah Palin dragged us all to the abyss, and I was so frightened that she would be our vice-president with her finger on the button and all of us might be dead at her hand. We are so BLESSED to have Barack Obama who gives us so much hope and change that we can't stand it! Now let her go with her children back into her bush she loves so much and leave us alone!

KCFleming said...

Palin has served as grist for the MSM mill, her family just a few more kernels of corn tossed under the wheel.

Despite a millstone that normally grinds its enemies into dust, she seems to have retained ambition and confidence, making her no more or less lunatic than others seeking high office.

I myself look not for a political savior, just a leader that can begin to loosen these fetters forged by government which made it for each citizen link by link, and yard by yard, whose weight and length was already heavy and long way back when Palin graduated from high school. But the state has labored on it, since; it is a ponderous chain!

If she plays any role at all in an escape from Eurostate fascism, I don't care if she keeps the hick accent, holds the retarded kid in public, or wears red Naughty Monkey shoes, these among her gravest crimes.

Amen to that Pogo.

Jason (the commenter) said...

SO the NYT used the AP to cover the story. Is Sarah Palin not important enough for the NYT to cover with reporters anymore, was it a budgetary issue, or did they want deniability?

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

What makes one accent annoying to the ears and another pleasant?

I have no idea.

All I know is that the morning news always manages to find the most annoying accent to slap me out of my somber.

KCFleming said...

"What makes one accent annoying to the ears and another pleasant?

Sufficient money, fame, or power, or proximity to them, can make even the most cacophonous noise seem endearing. Thus explains Tiny Tim, Yoko Ono, and Katie Couric.

Love can do the same, but only mother love proves the most enduring, often having taught that very voice. Marriage can begin with joy at the sound of her laugh turn to cringing, given sufficient time and ingratitude.

JAL said...

"She turned into a vicious vixen," he said. "She descended into ugly, divisive politics."

Ater she had been verbally assaulted below the belt. Gotta watch those vicious vixens and divisive politics.

Meanwhile we have a racialist (is that a black racist?) in the White House who insults law officers, physicians, insurance companies and the free market with impunity. Note that doesn't include, of course, lawyers and "racial profilers."

JAL said...

As far as dealing with Couric and Gibson, I'd like to hear her with them now.

I am absolutely convinced that the McCain and GOP handlers were trying to "fix" her. Now she doesn't have to perform for anyone so we might get a better idea of her capabilities.

BTW -- is there something wrong with listening past someone's accent to hear what they say?

Why doesn't the press write in dialect for other regional inflections? Like downtown Detroit, New York City? South Georgia?

Ooops.

TWM said...

"If Sarah's future is over, why are biased journalists so afraid of her?"

The same reason the left in general is afraid of her. She is a real threat in 2012. A threat that grows greater every day that Barry's poll numbers drop.

I also wouldn't mind rimming her after a long run through Wasilla.

But I am speaking to all when I say they wouldn't mind rimming her after a long run.

How many politicians can you say this about?

That is why she is definitely a step above any politician.

She is also hot as shit.

Titus nails it. She is the object of homoerotic (repressed or otherwise) love. Sarah is a man's man. Assured, sharp, in control and down home. She is a Log Cabin-style man cave for the chickenhawk fantasy spank bank.

The MSM loves her because they know that more that half the country does not have an gender-bending Oedipus complex variant and will help to ensure longer democrat majorities.

A brand new life around the bend.

There were times when I lost a dream or two.
Found the trail, and at the end was you.
There's a path you take and a path untaken
The choice is up to you my friend.

Nights are long but you're on your way
To a brand new life,
Brand new life,
Brand new life around the bend.

Unlike Obama, Palin is wise enough to know she doesn't know everything and is wise enough therefore to do less. I would vote for her in a second - anything to stave off the disaster Obama has brought on this country.

I'm Full of Soup said...

OT. But today my local paper did not have a single mention of Obama on its front page! That is perhaps unprecedented since Jan. 20.

To me, that means Obama has been convinced to cut back on the daily speeches and photo ops because they were not helping his cause. Prez Obambi is failing bigtime!

Bart Hall (Kansas, USA) said...

I suspect one important reason Palin attracts such visceral hatred from some Republicans as well as Democrats is that she's a western conservative -- meaning passionately in favor of robust defense and otherwise-limited government.

For the most part the GOP has three components, often quite uncomfortable with each other: the northeastern blueblood "moderates" who view governance as a certain noblesse oblige; the overwhelmingly southeastern Busybody Baptist contingent; and the western libertarians.

Bush 43 had just enough of each that he could pull it off in an era working against Republicans. His great failing, and that of his party at the time, however, was the assumption that larger government should be used to advance "conservative" -- meaning those of both pro-Big Business Republican bluebloods and the Busybody Baptists.

Sarah Palin and nearly all western conservatives are a tremendous threat to both the Bluebloods and the Busybodies, to say nothing of your garden variety Democrat these days.

The real fight shaping up is between the political classes -- and many Republicans along with essentially every Democrat now favor Big Government, though for different purposes -- and ordinary, productive Americans, most of whom wish simply to be left alone and not have to worry each day about what Government will do to them next.

Palin is currently at the nexus of that dynamic.

SteveR said...

The sole reason for Sarah Palin's existence, which her resignation and the publicity surrounding it reinforces, is to turn my otherwise intelligent sister into a bat shit crazy lunatic.

traditionalguy said...

Bart Hall...You have a point. The "nexus of that dynamic" is in the hands of a feisty point guard who is willing to see the floor and take her shot. The western individualists understand her and are willing to follow her, and the southeastern Bible Belters are totally comfortable with her. The last segment of the northeastern moderates will never like her style, but they will vote for her out of fear of the destructive politics of Obama/Acorn looting way too much loot in so little time.

Invisible Man said...

But I thought she was going to pass out of the double team. Or maybe using her current example, she would walk off the court before halftime, and that tell her team that her quitting was to win and that losers just kept playing and trying to win. I'm so confused. Anyways, she's nuts.

Palin sent her son off to war and was criticized for the manner in which she prayed for him. And liberals wonder why conservatives bond so strongly to her. She is the most likeable and authentic person to appear in politics in a long, long time.....That said, I would like to see her at one or two removes from daily politics. She could be to the Republicans what Eleanor Roosevelt was to the Democrats--the soul of the party, not its sinews and sweat..... The comparison to Eleanor Roosevelt is a little forced. Neither Democrats or Republicans can appreciate it. The bertter analogy is to Joan of Arc. In the fullness of time we will all see her as the American Joan of Arc.

So why do R E Lee and others think it is nuts? Are they afraid too?

Because these folks are so mind numbingly stupid that they can look at socialism, Chicago thug politics, and a vain, weak, inexperienced race hustling community activist President and see the ingredients for the makings of utopia.

Hence their first instincts are 180 degrees WRONG.

Invisible,

I wouldn't say it's only unfair to Sara. However, the left has now opened up the option of bringing ethics complaints against any governor running for President or Vice President. Any travel out of state is now a chance to charge a governor with using state funds for their own gain.

They've effectively removed the ability of any standing governor to run for high office.
