Those look like what we call Candy Lilies. I have a patch of several different colors in my garden

I think Chelsea's wedding is more about Hillary than Chelsea.

How come that when things were dicey for the Macondo well, it all belonged to BP, but now that it seems to be under control, BP's brass and their subcontractors have to ask permission to use the restroom?

My tin foil hat tells me that BP is capping this blow out (caused by a mysterious failure of a blow out preventer) gusher before Obama's Energy Tax Scam is ready to see an end to the destruction in the Gulf.

The Victorians couldn't talk about sex but they could go out to their gardens and see it naked and unashamed on their plants. At least I think that's what all that froth is about...and the lilies too.

Fascinating that Chelsea found her soulmate in the son of a total corrupto congresscritter. The soulmate's making it hand over fist at a hedge fund. Good for them, they both had the smarts to stay inside the buttercup.

A brutal Monday.

* Who else wouldn't mind seeing a Chelsea post-wedding vid?

* The comments from the USDA official at the NAACP meeting are indeed racist, especially how the audience cheered her. "One of his own"? However, because AB didn't provide the whole video we don't know whether she later said, "and, that would be bad" or the like. Even if AB is playing rope-a-dope and thinks that's the smart thing to do, that's not smart.

* Here's a history of the tea party movement, including 'partiers from the 20th and 19th century. Fun fact: in the 1800s, liberty-loving 'partiers fought to let children work as many hours as they wanted.

A cautionary tale about the possible consequences of men's indulging their desire to wear shorts -- an exercise in "but-for" causation:

Police said Sunday's shooting occurred after a friend of Green's was turned away from the Greenhouse nightclub because he was wearing shorts. While Green, the friend and two women were talking outside, a car with three men inside pulled up and tried to park where they were standing.

An ensuing argument escalated into a fistfight between Green and one of the men that spilled out onto the street, police said. The man pulled out a gun and shot Green two times before the men fled in the car.

Green was apparently better-known as an EMT, off-duty, who did not attend to a pregnant woman having a seizure.

lyssa - If you're ever in Fairhope again there's a fried chicken restaurant, more like a shack, on Route 42 (also known as South Greene Street) just outside and south of the downtown area that is great. The first few bites of the fried chicken are heaven. It's like a semi-buffet, where you step up to the counter and order the chicken and in another area are all the fixins to load on your tray, plus sweet tea of course. Peach cobbler if you have room for it. Open only for lunch and totally crowded with locals. Run by black folks by the way. Googled but couldn't find it listed.

I guess I have to be the one to point out that, according to his mother, the out-of-work, ex-con who put on body armor for his shoot out with police on the freeway, was upset at "the way Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items."

He is "expected to survive despite being shot in the arm, side, leg and foot." So maybe we'll get a more accurate statement of his feelings towards Congress, then.

Even the Lefties say the Clintons only have rich friends. If she learned from her mother, maybe she's marrying someone who will treat her like a lady, not a business asset.

For her sake, I hope so.

One happy result of the NAACP business is that an extremely vile racist has been exposed and forced to resign from her gummint job.

Clearly, global warming must be a fraud, then.

Hey LoneWhacko,

How are those lawsuits coming?

One lawsuit for every HDHouse patent, I'd bet.

Thanks, ricpic! We are hoping to go back sometime, so I'll try to find it. We're equal opportunity foodies; we love unique and fancy as well as the sort of casual food that really comes from the soul.

You know, tequila can have different effects on a person. Sometimes it can make you quiet and introspective; and sometimes it can make you go out and set off large commercial-grade fireworks on a public beach where poor, sensitive sea turtles are trying to fuck.

(Well, lay eggs, but turtles fucking makes for a much funnier visual).

It can even make you attempt to fire a bottle rocket right out of a leatherback's asshole.

Now, I'm not going to say that this will necessarily happen. First of all, this is probably a felony, and there are several pro-turtle sons of bitches in these comments sections that would call me in to the Turtle Patrol (yes, there is a Turtle Patrol).

And second, I don't even know if I'll find one.

So I'll not say that this will happen.

But I'll report in later and let you know how it...comes out.

Excelsior!

It was a dud.

Thanks a lot, Chinese slave laborers.

And nary a turtle to harass. Mission aborted; we'll try again tomorrow night.

Must be a common problem. The sparklers we had on the 4th totally sucked. They were about 5 inches long--how are little kids supposed to hold them?? And they lasted about 5 seconds. [no turtles were injured]

Have I mentioned my avatar is a photo taken by my 3-year-old right before she dropped my camera into a bucket of water in our back yard? Luckily, it dried out and recovered. Lucky for my husband, that is, who let her have my camera to take pics with!!
