The Russ Feingold vs. Ron Johnson Debate.

Are you watching with me?

Russ Feingold is the litmus test. He will win, most fantastically. Reids (Father and Son) will win in NV. Boxer will win in CA. Murray will win in WA.

This is the season for Democrats to win it all.

We cannot wait till Nov. 2012, when we really take it all back, once again.

Wanna bet your life savings on that sport?

Don't need to. I will swim a river of piss to vote for Feingold if that's what it takes.

Heh. AP, if you're so certain of a Dem win, why do you need a litmus test to begin with?

My are not.

The irreplaceable Russ Feingold is in the Tea Party's Drones with Hellfire Missles territory. I just hope no innocent RINOs are vaporized along with Russ when the Wisconsinites pull the trigger to blow him up.

I'll bet you'd open your mouth too.

AP You should try dropping all articles, and prepositions--it gives you that ring of Pravda:

Um...I thought Johson cleaned Russ's clock. I'm quite surprised actually (and pleased)

Ron Johnson made Russ Feingold look like a panicked challenger who is down by double digits three weeks before the election.

Johnson was very well prepared, clear, concise, and spoke without the usual politician's half-truths, twisting and nuance.

I see Russ Feingold speak and I hear Jerry Lundegaard trying to sell me the optional TruCoat for $800 even though I told him that I didn't want it and wouldn't pay for it.

I watched the debate - I've never seen Sen. Feingold in a debate - I don't follow his career all that closely, and I'm not a Wisconsin voter.

I've never seen Mr. Johnson before, either.

I thought the debate format was a little odd - there wasn't a rebuttal time. So the topics were fairly short.

I immediately loved Mr. Johnson, though. He was unapologetic and matter-of-fact about things that most politicians equivocate on, such as taxes and spending and "climate change."

Mr. Feingold was too wordy or something. I can't put a finger on it, but he seemed too practiced and less authentically like a normal, rational, honest guy. Although I can understand why some blue-collar liberals (or people who think of themselves as such) would like his positions. Still, it's all talk and theory (free trade - have Dems ever really battled NAFTA? Would it work if they did?). I think Mr. Johnson came across as more of a pragmatist. And I simply liked him better.

Mr. Feingold indeed did come off as a slick salesmen. I find them useful from time to time -- when I need something, like a house or a car.

Also, Mr. Feingold's joke about economic balance and not being a millionaire fell flat. It's not his lack of money I care about -- it's how he's going to spend my money and seemingly run my life with his overreaching policies.

Today, in Madison, I saw for the first time a new bumper sticker. It had exactly the same font, look, at colors as the familiar "Feingold" blue bumpersticker with white lettering.

It read "Foolsgold."

Surprised!

Irene said...

edit: "and colors".

The car also had a UW parking tag hanging from its rear-view mirror.

More surprised!

Foolsgold, I mean, Feingold should move back to Wisconsin, start up a business, hire some employees and meet a payroll, and then run again for senator in 6 years.

Now that would be good for Wisconsin.

America's Politico: You need to call Joe Biden pronto. He's going off message again, talking about "if we lose."

Actually the senate is a sewer, a fine place for Ron Johnson. Feingold is much too good for it.

It must be so comforting to still be able to see a world of heroes and villains. I grew out of that phase when I was around ten.

Feingold is probably the only decent human being in the senate, let alone decent senator. Ron Johnson, just this year, testified in front of the state legislature urging them to scrap legislation, that in essence, would protect pedophiles. That alone should disqualify him. I thought his belief that sunspots cause global warming would be enough, or his hypocrisy about government money, or his willingness to sell his country down the river by signing any and all one sided trade agreements that offshore American jobs, but apparently not for Wisconsinites.

@garage, point of information for both you and Johnson, if that is, indeed, what he said*.

The coldest part of the most recent period of global cooling (the "Little Ice Age") occurred during the Maunder Minimum, when sunspots were much more rare than today. There is a correlation between sunspot activity and global temperatures -- not surprising when you consider that the sun is the primary contributor to global temperatures.

You don't have to believe me -- being an idiot Democrat (oops, I'm being redundant again) perhaps you should look up the Little Ice Age and the Maunder Minimum in wikipedia, or you can buy this book for under $12 at Amazon.

Garage...Catch up. The "science that is settled" on Global Warming is that it is not co2 related and therefore not caused by men using oil, gas, and coal as energy to do things we need. The entire mythical hoax of co2 pollution has been destroyed. Where have you been...in a political cave somewhere? Every part of Gore's lies have been refuted by real scientists that are now aghast and ashame of what was done in a Science appearing effort to counterfeit results and thereby to steal all of the wealth in the USA. Anymore "co2 is a pollutant" argument is dull and boring nonsense.

Take the challenge, and google Ron Johnson+Catholic church. Prove me wrong.

garage mahal said...

Oh wait, nevermind. Im sure it can all be explained. Like photographs in a Nazi SS uniform.

Big Mike said...

Here's what I got after Googling Ron Johnson + sunspots:

"Johnson said extreme weather phenomena were better explained by sunspots than an overload of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as many scientists believe. “I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change,” Johnson said. “It’s not proven by any stretch of the imagination.”

The part that isn't a direct quote is open to whether or not Think Progress correctly recorded what he said. I'm inclined to think not, they being liberals and all. To the extent that Johnson was making the point that global climate is dominated by solar output, he's perfectly correct. And this will doubtless fly in the face of your liberal orthodoxy, but the part that is quoted is also quite correct. To the extent that anthropogenic global warming has offered up testable hypotheses, they have not come to pass. The theory is no more valid than phlogiston.

blake said...

Aw, crap.

And I just sold my cow for a bag of phologiston.
