Late afternoon on the prairie.

But we're not out in the middle of nowhere. Civilization is just at hand:

Quite lovely, I think!

Not to neglect the professor's photography, but I just came across something new to get exercised about:
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to pass the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA).

Whatever your feelings on internet censorship or intellectual property rights, this bill allows the Justice Department to get courts to order every ISP in American not to let their DNS servers resolve to IP addresses belonging to alleged copyright and trademark infringers. Per the Cato Institute's analysis: "This means that thousands of systems administrators would
be required to maintain a large and constantly-changing list of
blacklisted domains. This is a significant and unfair administrative
burden on private parties who have absolutely no connection to
infringing activities."

I'm surprised Sen. Feinstein signed on to this, given the importance of the internet to California. But the MPAA and Screen Actors Guild support it, as well as the RIAA.

FLS: That's, like, 9:00 a.m.'s news. You have to get up pret-ty early to bring something novel to our attention.

Pretty pictures, though. "Civilization" reminds me of the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands.

I have a box full of trashy romance novels to process before my weekend starts. I'm delaying that by commenting here.

Very nice view of what people heading west to Dakota and Montana saw. You know how to capture a mood, Madame.

You do love where you live, don't you.

She can always go to an airport and give the TSA a busman's holiday.

PS Regarding civilization, Mr Holmes had an interesting take on what Watson thought was pastoral serenity. What's on the surface ain't always what's underneath.

PPS Surprised fls is on the same side as a good bit of the Conservative blogosphere.

edutcher -- Not since we all had to stay after school because of the transgressions of a few, have I supported penalizing people who have done nothing wrong. Beyond the imposition of duties on unrelated third parties, this law fundamentally thwarts the purpose of ISPs, which are designed to let you access the internet, not block your access. Did courts order phone companies not to connect your calls to certain numbers?

All financial progress is a response to raising families. No kids to raise means no need to buy much of anything. Thank God for communities of families raising kids.

Yall must not be football fans there in Madison. Your team's doing really well! You should be making more noise about a national championship. You've done well this year. I don't get it. Go LSU, please do not let this team beat you.
