37 Christmas trees in the White House.

And, yes, they persist in calling them "Christmas trees"... as if they hadn't noticed how divisive such terminology can be... in Wisconsin.

Wow, Michelle looks effing great! They seem to have such a happy and monogamous marriage.

Actually, Michelle Obama has impressed me. Particularly when she took that shot at Hillary, in Madison (I believe), commenting "I don't know how she thinks she can run the White House when she can't even run her own house". I don't care for her husband and his misguided and ineffective administration, but I kinda like the First Lady. Soon she'll be like Rosalynn Carter, enduring the long aftermath of a failed presidency.

Your powers of perception amaze few.

That said, I support the President in all his Christmas tree glory.

I hope he sends a Christmas card to Ann Laurie Gaylor.

Those are really beautiful decorations.

And the Gold Star tree is a good idea.

Sorry E.M., I was just struck at how beautiful Michelle looks. Sort of Jackie-O-esque. Those toned arms. Just wow.

Now this is how you do humor, Professor.

The Capitol Christmas tree has arrived and the new national Christmas tree will be lighted soon.

There is also a national menorah. Just tells you how the states have to suffer all these nuisance lawsuits while DC just runs along as usual.

Hmmm, I wonder if FDR and Eleanor were that ostentatious.

PS Obama's religion???

It's called COMMUNISM!

Plastic garbage bags?

We decorated one of our fake plants this year with christmas stuff to help save money.

Ah yes, Poe's law shows itself yet again.

Good on ya, Scott Walker, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Those decorations are beautiful. Especially the gold star family tree. They've done a really nice job.

I love the Bo made out of buttons, and I think Mrs. Obama looks very nice in that dress.

I don't see Annie Laurie Gaylor protesting at the White House or in Milwaukee, where they also call it a Christmas tree...but of course, President Obama and Mayor Barrett/County Executive Abele are Democrats.

Garage, so right Michelle is gorgeous and we can be so proud of Obama as the epitome of a family man. Newt and Cain, not so much.

You're right, Professor. It is all about humor.

But lets add Russ Feingold to that "not so much" list, as well as past Democratic candidates John Kerry, John Edwards, Chris Dodd, and Dennis Kucinich. If you throw in accusations add Hillary, Bill Richardson, and Obama himself. That's pretty much the entire 2008 field.

That was fun.

George, please don't forget Ted and John Kennedy in the setting-a-great-family-example group! The 2008 field had NOTHING on them!

Mary Jo Kopechne: still dead.

Just to show how far things can go onc you lose the reason for the season:
In Loudoun County Virginia they are going to crucify Santa on the Courthouse lawn in a display. It was agreed that the Nativity scene could exist on the Courthouse lawn because some wanted it; then there were other displays like a Menorah that others wanted; and now this year someone wants to comment on how Santa is being abused by commercialism so they are crucifying Santa. Nice for kids going by.

I thought of that while putting Madonna & Child stamps on the mail at work today.

Poor ol' Buddy got hit by a car.

Can we call a Menorah a Menorah? Isn't the more correct term a big Jewish candlestick?

Michelle does look great. Not sure why that fact requires a shot at Cain and Gingrich. Do the successful Bush marriages require a reference to Clinton's philandering?

Well it was getting a bit stupid in the culture when saying "Merry Christmas" to someone during the Christmas season was considered "offensive" in a dominantly Christian culture, but saying "Happy Kwanzaa" was considered "inclusive". Pretty bigoted attitude to me.

Isn't anyone else distubted at the excessive number of trees in one house - at our expense?

Excessive consumption.

It's "Christ"mas tree. Not Winter Carnival tree, Harvest tree, Solstice tree, Display tree, or Santa Claus tree. If you don't like "our" holiday, quit taking paid days off on it.

So. I expect every non-christian government employee to be at work December 25 no matter what. And if you are not you should be fired. That goes for private sector workers too. Oh, I forgot. Private sector employees ARE expected to work on Christmas. So a big F-U to POS Lincoln Chaffee.

As far as Moochie being beautiful? I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Way too bony for my taste. I like my women voluptuous. Queen Latifah now, that there's a woman! Handsome is the best I can do for Moochie.
