The Cleveland Cavaliers will win Game 6 in Cleveland, because the NBA, NPR, and lots of other folks want them to. It will not matter which team is better.

The Golden State Warriors will probably win Game 7, because they are the better team. But the NBA is a strange place, like a blackjack table where the dealer shows his cards.

Oh yeah, and running behind in battleground states:

Be prepared to see *that* outfit again if you click on the link, with a hideous, full Lady Macbeth, facial expression.

Philodendrons. I think. Partial sun. Very nice. We planted several so we could have some poles in the yard, supporting feeders and a weathervane, without worrying about the dogs running into them. But the raccoons keep stealing the feeders and taking them back into the woods. Then we stop feeding the wild animals until we can get around to replacing the feeders. Stupid raccoons.

There's an analogy here.

KC Johnson: Amherst's Version of Kafka's The Trial

Amherst students engage in sexual activity while drunk. The male student is "blackout drunk." He happens to be the boyfriend of the female student's roommate. The female student invites him back to her room and performs oral sex on him. He leaves. She does not complain to anyone nor say anything about being assaulted to anyone. 21 months later she files a claim of sexual assault with the college (nothing with the police dept, of course). He's subjected to a hearing, found guilty, and expelled. The hearing found his claim to be blackout drunk and not remember the incident to be credible, but the school's rules say intoxication is not a defense, so he's still guilty. The hearing itself was the typical sham, with little opportunity for cross examination, no ability to have one's own lawyer, etc. The female student herself admits during the hearing that she can't say when her consent was actually revoked during the incident, but nonetheless the male student is found guilty.
The male student later hires an attorney. The attorney finds text messages from the female student to her friends contemporaneous with the incident/its immediate aftermath. The evidence clearly shows the female student's testimony at the hearing to have been false. The male student brings this new evidence to Amherst, and they flatly refuse to reopen the case or grant him any kind of relief. The hearing's outcome was based only on the female student's word/assertions, and now that those have been proven false Amherst says, essentially, "too bad."

Questions: 1. is this guy a spooge stooge? 2. if the female student engaged in oral sex with the male student while he was blackout drunk, by her own admission did she not sexually assault him? 3. if so why was she not punished in any way--only because he didn't press charges? She admitted to it as part of her testimony, she's admitting to a crime (under yes means yes, anyway). 4. the school has rules and the school has procedures; if the school followed its procedures was there an injustice done to the male student here? 5. Does it matter that criminalizing "bad sex" as the Prof has called it seems to always punish men? The Left is big on the idea of disparate impact--isn't this a solid example of seemingly-neutral rules/laws used in a discriminatory (w/r/t sex/gender) way? Is that something the Prof cares about?

It's a compass plant in the prairie at Gov. Nelson State Park.

How 'bout that Smoking Gun post on the topic of Rachel Donezal (then Moore, the post notes)? If true, this is where this story gets truly interesting, actually interesting.

For those who follow up, note that Howard University was where Rachel attended graduate school. It's bad for context (in no matter what way) if people don't know this.

My dealing with plants today involved ripping up all those with thorns, suckers, and twining vines. It can quickly become a jungle out there.

So interesting, finding a small plant in an unexpected place in our front garden. My husband and I looked at each other, and he said, "Maybe it's this?", and I said, "We'll find out, in time."
