Obamalisa and Obama Van Gogh.

"Mona Lisa. Please, someone do it! The sly smile would be so perfect," said Kentuckyliz, in that post yesterday where I'd asked for Photoshoppings of Obama in French impressionist/post-impressionists paintings.

Palladian gave us this:

Chip Ahoy was all:
Ha ha ha ha ha

I can't stand it. But Palladian, Post- Impressionist? Allow me recommend filter/pixelate/pointillize for Seurat-like dotage to conform Obamalisa, ha ha ha ha ha, that kills me all over again, with our Hostess' bleg.

Nothing like a hilarious anachronism. Let's celebrate with a reprise Chip's delightful Obama Van Gogh:

ADDED: MPH does the Modigliani variation:

Ha. Nicely done Palladian and Chip.

I would have contributed too, but I was busy saving 50,000 jobs. Go Fen!

And during the last post, I saved another 25,000 jobs. I rock!

You too can save thousands of American jobs through my simple 2 step process:

1) pick a number
2) declare you saved that many jobs

Its the new Obama Math.

Obamalisa freaks me out.
Good work, you two denizens of art mutation.

And I just saved or created 3000 jobs by sneezing into a tissue close at hand.

NAT KING COLE sings it:
"Obamalisa, Obamalisa, men have named you
Youre so like the Cuban with the mystic smile
Is it only cause you're a lefty they have blamed you?
For that Obamalisa strangeness in your smile?"

Brilliant work people! It reminds me of that brilliant episode of everybody's favorite show "According to Jim", where Jim's wife made fun of him for being a slob. The Groucho brothers would be proud.

There's a lot of talent here at Althouse.

That seems like a painfully obvious thing to say but sometimes things like that need to be said out loud.

Thanks, guys . . . and to everyone else!

More bait for the wingnuts I see, Professor.

Is this supposed to be funny?

*How?*

Whine moan whine whine whine bitch oh mommy save us is all you wingers can say about the most popular president EVER!!

Fen, can you count to 60, as in 60% approval rating? Have a hard time counting your fingers? You should work up to your toes sometime.

How dare you *try* to make fun of the greatest president the United States has ever had or will have again?

Wingnuts = unpatriotic and un-American.

So wingers don't like America and the choice of their fellow Americans?

*Move to France and STAY THERE*

Greatest president ever. Wipe your chin, Gene Olson. Obama is an affront to all that is decent, kind of like you.

The Mona Lisa smile of our very own comrade Lenin is so cute that we must have the Russians laughing out loud at the turn of the tables from 1919 to 2009. There is nothing new under the sun, except the two teraflop computer that can make a socialist command economy work better among all the Joe the Plumbers left in America. But whose smiling face will write its programs? And when the smiles of Barack are history who will get to play Joe Stalin's role and rule the computers that rule over us?

Lucky, why do you read these portraits as an attack on Obama? What's un-loving about them?

That's the typical attack schtick: feminize the image of Democratic men and masculinize (?) Dem women.

Yawn.

Typical over-the-top rhetoric by Lucky/Jeremy.

For a slightly different perspective Rasmussen reports on what the American people really think about what's going on:

“Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.

“This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue. The parties were close in May, with the Democrats holding a modest 44% to 43% edge. The latest survey was taken just after General Motors announced it was going into bankruptcy as part of a deal brokered by the Obama administration that gives the government majority ownership of the failing automaker.

“Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.

“Separate Rasmussen tracking shows that the economy remains the top issue among voters in terms of importance.

“Republicans also now hold a six-point lead on the issue of government ethics and corruption, the second most important issue to all voters and the top issue among unaffiliated voters. That shows a large shift from May, when Democrats held an 11-point lead on the issue.”

Pretty much the Democratic party in a nutshell, Alpha. Thanks for the summary.

Lucky/Jeremy is just bitter because I couldn't save his job too.

But I hear Maureen needs a new editor.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds"

No no no. Use the new Obama Math, people: "The latest national telephone survey finds that 110% see Obama as an affirmative action admit who can't handle the Tier 1 course load.

"While 99% of our respondents view LuckyJeremy as the poster boy for those who should demand a refund from their University. [LuckyJeremy abstained]"

Ooops, I just save another 1200 jobs. Just by accident.

He's the most popular president since January 2009. Both Presidents Bush clocked 90% approval ratings (granted, not for all that long), Reagan's approval rating was, I believe, in the high 70's at the end of his term. FDR was awash in adulation for most of his presidency, although I don't believe that there were approval polls done back then. Obama's fairly popular now, but the jury's still out.

And since when does popularity mean all that much in the first place? This isn't high school, after all. Britney Spears is "popular," but that doesn't mean she actually produces music of substance that people will still be listening to in 50 or 100 years.
