"A cougar, a guido and a nerd walk up to a bar..."

"And none got in. At least not at the uber-hip Boom Boom Room."

With my "look", a ten spot and a promise to buy two Lucky Lager Lights, surely at least three of these clubs would let me in? No?

Anyone who goes to the meat packing district is an idiot. There are much better bars in MAnhattan.

Wait a minute. Teresa Giudice walked in there all by herself?

We're right back where we were with Studio 54 in the 70s.

Who says The Zero isn't the political reincarnation of Jimmy Carter?

PS Notice all the epithets - Guido, nerd, etc. Where, O, where are the PC types?

Of course if the nerd turned out to be Bill Gates he could buy the Boom Boom Room and personally fire the bouncers.

Imagine, not being able to spend $400 on a bottle of Goose.

It was funny that "Suburban Dad" was the one who got access to the most places -- provided he ran a big bar tab!

(I love the NYP! No other paper does this kind of light-hearted article.)

There was a hipster bar/club in Knoxville I went to, to see a friend's band play once. It was kind of sad: everyone was alike. And every single person except for us was drinking PBR. The conformity was almost suffocating. Even a guido would have been refreshing.

drinking PBR.

Ugh.

Still, it wasn't Iron City Lite. (shudder)

Apparently thanks to hipster authenticity seeking, Pabst Blue Ribbon has actually raised its prices somewhat the past few years.

Personally, I've got better things to do than drink bad beer and pretend I like it.

Shorter version of article: These clubs will let you in if you're either stylish and good-looking or appear to be an established person who will spend a lot of money.

Someone explain to me the concept of having to pay to get into a bar. I don't get that. You go someplace to spend money, and they want you to pay them to go inside? Should the mall start charging people to walk in the door? Should Macy's? How about a car dealership or a pizza restaurant? Odd.

Oh, BTW, what does it say about me that I found the guidette sorta hot?

Okay, I'm a Amstel Light woman myself. However, the PBR comments are a hoot! Have you all seen the Keystone Light ads recently where the redneck (I can use that term because I am one), Keith Stone, always comes to the pretty woman's rescue? Creatively funny.
