I think Althouse is missing her true calling as a nature photographer. Really like the photos on her blog.

Kaci Hickox is doing her best to destroy her case. She and the doctors involved in these quarantine disputes suffer from bad cases of medical hubris. "I am a doctor! I know everything and can do anything! Nothing can withstand my powers!"

Which does not change it that if the government executive in charge wishes to have a screening and quarantine system in place, it takes a bit more than simply sending a gross of temperature sensoring devices out to the airport and hope that somebody out there will know how to use them.

Sort of interesting: Walker supporters like bullets, bibles, and cheese. Burke supporters like CDs, crafts, and science supplies. Link

Gotta love my fellow Vermonters.

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont Health Officials say a Vermont man, posing as a doctor, is under a voluntary quarantine after going to Guinea and Sierra Leone. The person went to West Africa to help.

I am sure the Africans appreciated the help of a fake doctor but intentions are everything!

It's amazing that such an off-in-the-weeds progressive state like Vermont has almost no gun laws whatsoever.

That is correct. When in Vermont, you do what you want!

Fireworks available here are outstanding as well.

Public nudity is not illegal as long as you leave the house nude. You may not strip in public.

This law came under a little pressure when a superannuated German tourist chose to walk down Main Street Brattleboro naked. Some people allowed as there ought to be an age limit on who could walk around naked, but love of freedom won the day.

From Little Green Footballs:

Nation’s Leading Epidemiology Groups Oppose Mandatory Quarantine, Public policy should not be driven by fear

Some of the nation’s leading organizations that specialize in epidemiology and infectious diseases have come out against the mandatory quarantine policies being pushed by paranoia-pandering politicians. Here are statements from The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America [SHEA], the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology [APIC], and the Infectious Diseases Society of America [IDSA].

Hmm... CDC calling in the chits?

The SHEA Research Network (SRN) is a consortium of over 200 hospitals collaborating on multi-center research projects of interest to the SHEA membership to identify important gaps in the healthcare epidemiology science base and address them by contributing data and expertise. The SRN is competitive in obtaining federal funding from agencies including CDC, AHRQ, and NIH.

With the support of a CDC grant IDSA entertains a listserv for infectious disease physicians called Emerging Infections Network. It allows members to check on unusual clinical events, a potentially emerging infectious disease by connecting members to the CDC and other public health investigators and it is capable of queries and surveys.

APIC, Secret Mistress of the CDC

Whenever someone in the private sector lobbies for more funding for a government agency, that’s a clue that something is up. Here’s an example: APIC. Association for Professionals in Infection Control. Without the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), this outfit has no purpose. Without APIC, the CDC has no private sector sycophant and cheerleader. APIC also represents a significant sinecure for former CDC employees. A recent email alert from APIC has stressed the importance of calling your legislator to increase the CDC’s funding for their NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network). They might as well say,”MORE MONEY FOR THE MOTHER SHIP!” This, of course, increases the supply of blood for APIC to suck out, not unlike a tick demanding the vet transfuse the dog.

Belleview Hospital is emptying their ICU of non ebola patients because they don't have the staff resources to care for them in addition to the ebola patients.

I am sure that is out of uninformed hysteria. And anybody who thinks it is stupid to cripple our hospitals in the name of political correctness is a racist tool!

LOL...You couldn't make this up if you tried:

Tim, I have no doubt you're speaking the truth and I believe I've heard it before, but have you got a cite on that remark about Bellevue emptying the ICU?
