Donald Trump took credit for Budweiser's renaming its beer "America."

But let's be fair. Don't immediately call him arrogant.

1. He was asked if the name-change was about him (asked because of his slogan "Make America Great Again"), so he was only responding to a question, not pushing the subject himself.

2. He said: "I think so. They're so impressed with what our country will become, they decided to do this before the fact." There's a lightness to that. A humor. Optimism.

3. I, myself, when I read the story of the name change yesterday, connected it to Trump: "Seems consistent with an electorate trending toward Trump." Either beer named "America" objectively relates to Trump, or we need to worry not about whether he's deranged and thinks it's all about him, but whether he's rearranged our subjective experience so that we perceive his involvement in way too many things.

Never stop a person actively engaged in making you smile. The Donald should be encouraged. It is all very entertaining.

Now if Trump could make Budweiser drinkable again, he'd have my vote!

Hillbilly beer.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Though, as we have learned this year, plenty of hillbillies are rich and probably drink craft beer.

Perhaps there IS more to the Donald than meets the eye. Or the brew...

The Donald they don't want you to know. America, this Bud is *for you*.

What food or drink product would be associated with Hillary?

"They're so impressed with what our country will become"

Not to worry.

Obama would have said, "They're so impressed with what my country will become."

In the megalomania department, Obama is our classic case study; probably our best example since Woodrow Wilson.

Compared to His Majesty Obama, Trump is a pretty normal guy.

Or maybe that is done in honor of the power behind the great Paul Ryan. When the next can says "Things go better with Koch" we will know.

"Make America marginal, foreign owned"

Will there be a light version?

This technique, of asking a question with an absurd or at least biased premise, is a standard trope among political reporters. The purpose is to get a sound bite or quote that, taken out of context, makes the subject look bad, stupid, extreme, or evil.

It is stupid, as the only correct way to answer is to insult the questioner, deride the premise of the question at length, tell the questioner's manager that the person who asked the question is obviously incompetent and should be fired, and then forever after publicly remind the questioner, whenever they rise to ask another question, that they can't get away with such repugnant behavior. And that is just too damn much work, as EVERYBODY does it.

So I suggest one go with the flow, and say something like, "Your stupid question deserves a serious answer, despite your idiocy. America is a wonderful place to live, and I love this country. End of answer."

Except that Budweiser is owned by Inbev, which is headquartered in Belgium.

Miller is owned by SABMiller, headquartered in London.

All of the top ten beer brands in the US are owned by either InBev or SABMiller.

So, if you really care about America drink a craft beer like New Belgium.

Probably just a coincidence, but when I saw the Bud-->America story, I immediately thought of Trump, and that's all that's important.

Arsenic.

Hillary doesn't drink beer -- she only drinks cerveza.

And no the words aren't you're thinking now aren't related. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Well, I like Bud Light. So there's that.

Imus reports, when he used to hang out with Lupica and Trump 30 years ago, that Trump was always Don-Rickles funny.

If that wasn't obvious.

Bud is a Belgian company, InBev, so its pure branding and tax avoidance combined.

According to Wikipedia its an "American style pale larger", i.e. brewed with 30% rice sugar and 6 row barley.

I think that it was brilliant marketing. You can show your support for Trump by buying this beer. And Trump supporters are more likely Bd drinkers than Hillary supporters. And, what self respecting American wild bad mouth beer named like this.

His focus on America is refreshing. Europeans have been able to relate since Obama et al's social justice-inspired humanitarian disaster.

I am Mr. Spooky Scary Bathroom Man.

Men in a bar urinal trough pissing Budweiser in succession is like listening to La Monte Young's pointless drones.

Of course, all the cool people say they love him but I don't believe ANY of them have actually listened to him. Or would ever choose to again.

Give me the conjurings of Igor Stravinsky in the Women's Restroom at Nordstrom's any time.

And -- please --don't bring up Richard Wagner: I have heard enough brutish variations of 'Ride of the Valkyries' in suburban Kansas City Barbecue Sports Bar Men's Bathrooms to last me more than a lifetime.

I support Women's Restroom Arts.

It's OK, ladies: I will respect your Safe Space.

This is similar to word association. This is why Trump is going to win in a landslide.

When someone says America they now think Trump.

When someone says liar they now think Hillary.

It is 50/50 whether she is even the nominee now.

I suspect you don't realize that many people, upon seeing the word "HillBilly", wonder if it's an amalgam of the Clintons' given names. After all, they spent a lot of time in Arkansas.

Hillary supporter in 2008

I think that shill-o didn't get the memo that these are Hillary's peeps and that she needs them to win, if that's possible anymore. Now I guess his tactic is to shame us for being white. Funny how he acknowledges how bad Hillary is, but says she is better than Trump, all the while ignoring that the choice right now is Sanders v Hillary.
